Description
The Friends of the APS Predoctoral Fellowship is administered by the American Philosophical Society’s Library & Museum in Philadelphia. It supports nine months of residential dissertation research by advanced Ph.D. students in all fields, provided their topics are reflected in the Library & Museum’s collections and they demonstrate a need to use those materials.
The fellowship aims to advance projects toward timely completion. Project caliber and evidence of timely completion are the leading selection priorities, alongside the importance of research at the APS and other Philadelphia-area institutions. The recipient also has opportunities to participate in the Society’s programs and affairs, placing collection-based research within its broader scholarly community.
