    Description

The Institute for Advancing Medical Innovation (IAMI) Trailblazer Award is a Frontiers Clinical & Translational Science Institute pilot program supporting innovative clinical and translational science across scientific disciplines. It helps investigators develop novel drugs, devices, and diagnostics, generating results for impactful publications, successful external funding applications, and products entering IAMI’s development pipeline.

Supported work includes experimental therapeutics, drug and medical device development, biomarker discovery and validation, and entrepreneurship activities defining product development opportunities. Projects must go beyond advancing a specific disease or target: they must address a scientific or operational principle underlying translation and develop generalizable innovations that accelerate translational research. Research addressing the needs of the rare disease community receives special consideration, but is not required.
