    Description

This is a compliance notice, not a grant opportunity. Frontiers Clinical & Translational Science Institute shares NIH Notice NOT-OD-26-084, which reminds researchers of NIH’s longstanding definition of a foreign component. NIH has increased oversight of foreign collaborations but has not expanded that definition. The notice applies to all NIH grants, cooperative agreements, and other transaction agreements.

A foreign component is any significant scientific element or segment of a project performed outside the United States, either by the recipient or a researcher employed by a foreign organization, whether or not grant funds are spent. The notice addresses foreign co-authorship, reporting to NIH, and accurate acknowledgment of federal support. Frontiers also provides specific instructions for acknowledging individual service providers in publications with foreign co-authors.
