The Fisheries Society of the British Isles (FSBI) provides competitive Outreach Grants for individuals, teams and organisations delivering activities that promote the science of fish biology. The programme aims to increase public understanding and engagement, stimulate discussion about fish biology and its implications for society, and develop skills in communicating the science.
The grant particularly seeks to inspire and enthuse people of all ages, including those who have not previously been interested in fish biology. Supported activities must be relevant to fish biology and the Society’s objectives, with the science itself central to the outreach. Activities undertaken purely for conservation purposes, or those that do not promote fish biology as a science, fall outside the programme’s remit.
