Description
The Federal Transit Administration (FTA) Section 5311(f) Intercity Bus Program is administered by the Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT). It supports and promotes connections between rural areas and the national intercity bus system, with funding directed to private operators of intercity bus services.
The program covers both operating expenses and capital purchases. Operating support includes personnel, fuel and other vehicle consumables, repairs, vehicle license tags, insurance, and marketing. Capital support is directed specifically toward purchasing over-the-road coaches. The SFY 28 application cycle includes Section 5311(f) Intercity Bus Transportation and covers July 2027 through June 2028.
