Description
The Fulbright Scholar Program offers one four-month award for research or professional projects at the Atlantic International Research Centre (AIR Centre) in Portugal. Work takes place at its Lisbon office and its headquarters and Earth Observation Laboratory at TERINOV on Terceira Island, Azores. The award supports AIR Centre’s mission-oriented work, from deep-ocean to near-space Earth observation, ocean observation and modelling, and healthy oceans to marine biodiversity, ocean digital twins, and marine robotics.
The program emphasizes innovation in multinational networks and creative transatlantic cooperation, including the All-Atlantic Ocean Research and Innovation Alliance. Activities connect science, industry, and administration in the United States and AIR Centre-associated countries. Workshops and meetings help develop research agendas and identify research projects, services, products, and business opportunities while improving understanding of ocean and coastal systems.
