Description
The Fulbright Scholar Program, in partnership with the National Institute for Lithium and Salars (INLiSa), supports collaborative research in Antofagasta, northern Chile. The award aims to deepen Chile–U.S. scientific cooperation, advance understanding of lithium and salar systems, improve applied processes, and develop sustained joint research initiatives.
Scholars join multidisciplinary teams working on laboratory research, technological piloting, and field-based studies. Priorities include hydrogeology, numerical modeling and geosciences; remote sensing, satellite analysis and advanced sensors; chemical processes, electrochemistry and direct lithium extraction; and materials science for lithium and batteries. Participants are expected to contribute to collaborative research, co-develop analytical frameworks or technological solutions, and engage in academic dialogue with Chilean counterparts.
