    Description

The Fulbright Distinguished Arctic Scholar Award enables senior U.S. scholars to spend three months in Norway conducting research and teaching on topics relevant to the Arctic and High North regions. The program is open to all disciplines—including natural sciences, social sciences, and humanities—and seeks to foster international academic exchange and mutual understanding between the United States and Norway. Scholars are expected to engage not only with their host institution but also with the broader academic community, including public lectures, seminars, and mentoring graduate students.

Scholars may visit other Norwegian universities for short periods and are encouraged to participate in orientation and seminar programs organized by the Fulbright Foundation. The award is highly competitive, with only one recipient selected each year.
