Description
Funded by the Australia Department of Defence and administered by the Australian-American Fulbright Commission, this Distinguished Chair brings outstanding U.S. researchers to Australia for up to six months. Scholars undertake a specific research project with Defence Science and Technology Group (DSTG) offices, research groups and partners, contributing to emerging science and technology capabilities and ongoing bilateral partnerships.
Priority research areas are hypersonics, directed energy, trusted autonomy, quantum technology, information warfare and long-range fires. DSTG will also consider other relevant research proposals. Chairs engage with DSTG personnel through occasional guest lectures or seminars and explore long-term collaborations and institutional linkages. Educational and cultural exchange is central to the program, which seeks to enhance mutual understanding and strengthen relations between Australia and the United States.
