Description
The Fulbright Distinguished Scholar Award in Medical Sciences supports research at the Universidade de São Paulo Medical School (FMUSP) in São Paulo, Brazil. Through the Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program and Fulbright Commission in Brazil, one scholar joins a multidisciplinary group working in transplants and regenerative medicine. Scholars conduct a research project of their choosing within this setting, developing international research and collaboration between U.S. and Brazilian groups.
The exchange also promotes international understanding and cooperation. Scholars may be asked to give public talks, mentor students, and engage with the host community alongside their research. FMUSP offers an academic health-center environment where basic, translational, and clinical researchers collaborate across the medical school and affiliated medical-center units.
