Description
This teaching and research award, offered through the Fulbright Scholar Program and funded by the Sigmund Freud Museum, supports a four-month placement in Vienna. The scholar conducts research at the museum and teaches one related undergraduate or graduate course or seminar at a Viennese university institution. The Sigmund Freud Foundation and Fulbright Austria arrange the teaching assignment in consultation with the recipient.
Areas of interest include human sciences, cultural studies, psychoanalytic theory and practice, psychoanalytic studies, neuroscience in relation to psychoanalysis, and arts related to psychoanalysis. The award also advances Fulbright’s goal of strengthening relationships and mutual understanding between the United States and other nations. Scholars may be asked to give public talks, mentor students, and engage with the host community alongside their primary activities.
