Description
The Fulbright-García Robles TEFL award supports capacity building in English language programs at Mexican institutions. Managed in Mexico by COMEXUS, it emphasizes teacher education and training rather than direct English instruction. Activities include undergraduate and graduate teaching, instructor workshops, curriculum and materials development, testing and evaluation, student-teacher advising, practica supervision, and consultation on bachelor's and master's programs.
Teacher training institutions receive priority, with placements generally outside Mexico City and in rural regions with fewer resources. Scholars may combine teaching with language-related research or research in their specialization. Final activities are developed with the host institution and Fulbright Commission. Through institutional development, faculty and student training, and community engagement, the award aims to strengthen English teaching capacity and academic cooperation between Mexico and the United States.
