Description
This Fulbright Scholar Program award, offered through a partnership between Fulbright Iceland and the National Science Foundation, supports Arctic-related research in Iceland. It aims to strengthen research relevant to the Arctic and promote cooperation among scientists across social and natural science fields. Projects may have significance for the High North even when the scholar’s wider work does not focus exclusively on the Arctic.
Interdisciplinary projects are strongly encouraged. Relevant topics include anthropology, archaeology, governance, public health, traditional knowledge, socioecological systems, resilience, glaciology, geology, biology, and sustainability science. Research must remain the primary activity, although limited teaching, mentoring, and development work are permitted. Collaboration with Icelandic institutions and engagement with host communities also advance Fulbright’s mission of international understanding and cooperation.
