Description
The Fulbright-Nehru Distinguished Scholar award supports research, teaching, and combined teaching/research projects in India. Administered in India by the United States-India Educational Foundation (USIEF), it also supports professional and artistic projects, faculty and curriculum development, and institutional initiatives. Scholars determine their teaching/research balance and explain it in their project statement. Recommended teaching loads do not exceed one course per term, generally three hours weekly.
Applications are welcome across all academic and professional fields. Priorities include critical minerals and supply chains, defense and security, energy security, science and research collaboration, space cooperation, and technology and innovation. Interdisciplinary, comparative, and policy-relevant work connecting the arts, humanities, and social sciences with these themes is encouraged. Scholars may also give public talks, mentor students, and engage beyond their primary host institution to strengthen U.S.–India relationships.
