Description
The Fulbright Scholar Program, in partnership with Queen’s University Belfast and the US-UK Fulbright Commission, supports a six-month creative writing residency in Belfast, Northern Ireland. The scholar writes, lectures, teaches, and delivers public readings of their own work. Responsibilities include assisting with one undergraduate creative writing class and conducting one graduate workshop in the scholar’s field of expertise. The Seamus Heaney Centre and School of Arts, English and Languages sponsor readings of published work and works in progress.
The residency encourages contributions to the Centre’s ongoing work through discussion, collaboration, research, and engagement with students and the wider community. Appropriate specializations include arts, creative writing, drama/theater, and non-U.S. literature. The award advances Fulbright’s mission of strengthening relationships, mutual understanding, and knowledge exchange between the United States and the United Kingdom.
