Description
The Fulbright Scholar Program supports one scholar at the University of Prishtina’s Department of Journalism to strengthen independent media in Kosovo. The scholar collaborates with the Press Council of Kosovo and the Independent Media Commission on research, institutional capacity building, public seminars, and professional training. Priorities include countering anti-U.S. narratives, press freedom, media regulation, online harm, editorial independence, newsroom standards, and journalists’ digital safety.
The award supports research, teaching, or a combination of both. Activities may include teaching journalism, media ethics, media law, freedom of expression, data journalism, investigative reporting, or countering adversarial propaganda. Scholars may develop workshops using American digital tools for fact-checking and verification, and mentor students’ research and reporting projects. The exchange also aims to strengthen relationships between people in the United States and Kosovo through engagement with the host community.
