Description
The Fulbright Specialist Program pairs Australian host institutions with experienced U.S. academics and professionals for short-term, institution-designed education and training projects. Established in 2001 by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, it forms part of the wider Fulbright Program. Fulbright Australia administers the Australian opportunity, with World Learning serving as the program’s implementing partner.
Host institutions design projects that address their own priorities and have concrete objectives achievable during the specialist’s visit. Supported activities include seminars and workshops, faculty or workforce development consulting, curriculum and training-material development, undergraduate or graduate lectures, and institutional needs assessments or evaluations. The exchanges bring global perspectives to local needs and aim to build sustained relationships with U.S. experts and institutions.
