The Fulbright Specialist Program enables Finnish institutions and organizations to host leading U.S. academics and established professionals for short-term collaborative projects. Offered in Finland through the Fulbright Finland Foundation, it is a U.S. Department of State program funded by the U.S. Government and administered by World Learning. Exchanges aim to build institutional capacity and sustained connections between Finland and the United States.
Projects must focus on education or training, with concrete objectives achievable during the Specialist’s visit. Activities can include needs assessments, institutional or programmatic research, lectures, seminars, workshops, faculty development, curriculum assessment, educational materials and tertiary-level teacher training. Specialists may also participate in academic programs and conferences alongside other scheduled activities. The program spans more than 20 disciplines, including education, business, law, environmental science, journalism and public health.
