Description
The Fulbright-Tocqueville Distinguished Scholar Award supports academic exchange in all disciplines at French host institutions. Offered through the Fulbright Scholar Program and co-financed by the French Ministry of Higher Education and Research and Fulbright in France, it provides six-month appointments as guest teachers and researchers. Two recipients conduct research of their choosing, work with French colleagues, and engage with graduate and doctoral students.
Teaching and public engagement are central to the award. Scholars teach host-designated courses, advise and evaluate students, and give presentations beyond their host institution, including for nonacademic audiences. The program seeks scholars interested in developing or strengthening long-lasting institutional ties, sustaining Franco-American collaboration, and advancing international understanding through academic and community exchange.
