Description
The Fulbright Writer-in-Residence at Adam Mickiewicz University combines work on a writer’s own creative project with teaching and cultural exchange in Poland. Hosted by the university’s Literature Affirmation Centre in Poznań, this teaching/research award supports creative writing, American literature, and non-U.S. literature. The Fulbright Program is sponsored by the U.S. Department of State and administered by the Institute of International Education in partnership with the host-country Commission.
The residency introduces students and faculty to approaches characteristic of creative writing education in the United States while giving the writer space to develop their own work. Graduate courses help students build portfolios, and undergraduate mini-courses encourage writing ambitions and develop craft. Mentoring and public engagement complement these activities. The award aims to strengthen Polish-American literary ties, promote mutually beneficial cultural exchange, and advance literature as a means of understanding the world.
