Description
The Paleontological Society supports meetings focused on paleontology, broadly defined, whose aims may include research, education, or outreach. Its first priority is stand-alone events organized in their entirety by the applicant group, including traditional conferences, short courses, workshops, and working groups. Events bringing paleontologists together with other fields are also welcome, as are meetings involving educators, amateur or avocational paleontologists, and the public.
A secondary funding track supports invited speakers in sessions within larger meetings when additional funds are available. This track emphasizes connections between paleontology and other disciplines, including paleontologists participating in non-geoscience meetings and speakers from other fields attending geoscience or paleontology conferences. Selection priorities include breadth of meeting goals and audiences, student and early-career participation, and diversity among invited speakers and participants.
