Description
The Future Leaders Exchange (FLEX) Program is a competitive, merit-based scholarship program administered by American Councils for International Education and funded by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. Participants spend one academic year attending a U.S. high school and living with a volunteer host family. The program strengthens international ties by helping students learn about American society and values while sharing their own countries and cultures with Americans.
FLEX emphasizes leadership, community engagement, entrepreneurship, and innovation. Students contribute to their host communities and participate in American Excellence enhancement activities focused on business, technology, and entrepreneurship. After returning home, participants apply their new skills and experiences to benefit their communities. The FLEX Alumni program supports continued engagement through an international network, grants, and professional development.
