This fellowship supports early- and mid-career journalists in producing in-depth reporting on the impact of artificial intelligence, advanced manufacturing, and emerging technologies on regional economies and the labor market. The goal is to foster nuanced, underreported stories about how technological change and investment shape the lives of working families, students, local governments, education providers, and economic development leaders. Fellows receive editorial coaching, professional development, access to expert sources and data, and opportunities to amplify their storytelling in collaboration with Work Shift and New America.
