Key Information: Fellows are expected to attend five lunchtime sessions at Prospect House.
The Future Values Fellowship is run by the Future Values Initiative at Princeton University’s University Center for Human Values. It introduces Princeton faculty and postdoctoral researchers in STEM fields to critical, feminist, and science and technology studies, emphasizing how insights from these fields can inform their own research in theory and practice. Fellows discuss pre-circulated readings in expert-guided lunchtime sessions.
The program addresses how values and politics shape scientific work and how researchers can build more socially just research programs and laboratories. Drawing on Princeton’s strengths in the sciences and humanities, the initiative promotes scholarship, collaboration, and intellectual community-building around science’s ethical implications. Its priorities include understanding how science’s benefits and costs are socially distributed and involving humanists as partners in innovation rather than critics after the fact.
