Description
Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity runs this two-week, in-person residency for emerging and established writers developing a specific project or creating new work. Its focus is the creative exploration of the future, including fantastical, scientific, and decolonial visions. Participants receive individual accommodation and a small private studio, with time to work independently alongside other writers.
Optional activities include thematic teachings, group sessions, one-on-one mentoring, and public readings of work in progress. Mentors Joshua Whitehead, Sheree Renée Thomas, and Nalo Hopkinson are joined by professional guest Jenna Butler. The residency runs alongside Indigenous Arts and Visual Arts programs exploring related ideas, creating opportunities for cross-disciplinary exchange.
