    Description

The Austrian Science Fund’s Arts-Based Research (PEEK) program supports clearly defined projects of high artistic and academic quality at an international level. Artistic experience, practice, and methodology are central to the research questions and processes of knowledge production. Projects may investigate new ideas, develop new arts-based methods or technologies, or apply existing approaches to new research questions. Incremental development of published data is not considered innovative or original.

The program aims to strengthen the research skills, quality, and international reputation of Austria’s arts-based researchers while increasing awareness of the field within public, academic, and arts communities. One principal investigator manages each project at an Austrian research institution, with scope for associated Austrian research partners and national or international collaborations. Concerts, performances, and exhibitions may be supported when directly necessary to the research, generally as proof of concept.
