    Description

The Austrian Science Fund (FWF), in cooperation with the German Research Foundation (DFG), supports reciprocal participation in Austrian and German collaborative research programs. Open to researchers from all disciplines, the cooperation funds closely integrated projects that generate scientific added value through international collaboration. The participating formats are FWF Specialized Research Groups, FWF Special Research Areas, DFG Collaborative Research Centres/Transregios, and DFG Research Units.

For standard participation, one funding organization reviews the joint application through a Lead Agency procedure, and each national organization finances its respective subprojects. Larger collaborations use a modified procedure involving a coordinated FWF–DFG review and independent funding decisions. This opportunity concerns collaborative programs; cross-border Principal Investigator Projects use the separate Weave scheme.
