    Description

This first call of the European Partnership Resilient Cultural Heritage (RCH) supports transnational research addressing the effects of climate and environmental change on cultural heritage. Supported in Austria by the Austrian Science Fund (FWF), the program brings researchers, cultural practitioners, businesses, and other stakeholders together to develop sustainable solutions for heritage protection and resilience.

RCH seeks to strengthen climate adaptation, integrate cultural heritage into climate policy, and promote interdisciplinary research and innovation. Its goals include filling data gaps, establishing monitoring systems, and transferring knowledge to society and the private sector. Alongside preserving Europe’s cultural heritage, the partnership aims to advance climate neutrality in other sectors through traditional and innovative methods, techniques, and materials emerging from heritage research.

    The call covers four subtopics:

    • Risk and impact assessment, risk preparedness, and cultural heritage risk management.
    • Managing heritage loss and damage from climate change-induced natural hazards.
    • Traditional, local, and Indigenous knowledge and practices as resources for societal climate resilience.
    • Sustainable governance of the cultural heritage sector.
