    Description

The Austrian Science Fund’s Principal Investigator Projects International program supports pioneering basic research across all disciplines through close cooperation with project partners abroad. It gives principal investigators and their research groups resources to investigate individual research questions within thematically clearly defined projects of a specific duration. Funding covers project-specific personnel and non-personnel costs.

The program operates through country-specific collaborations rather than a single uniform call. Projects should be closely integrated, with partners making substantial scientific contributions and creating added value through international cooperation. Most collaborations are thematically open, but country-specific restrictions apply. Some collaborations operate through the Weave network, which permits bilateral projects and the involvement of researchers from a third Weave partner country.
