    Description

The Foundation for Women & Girls+ with Blood Disorders (FWGBD) Annual Research Grant Award supports research on all blood disorders affecting women and girls. It aims to advance correct diagnosis and optimal management throughout life, including challenges associated with menstruation, pregnancy, childbirth, and menopause. The award also seeks to sustain investigators’ interest in translating research into clinical care that improves affected patients’ lives.

The program supports hypothesis-generating basic, clinical, implementation, and translational research. Projects may investigate fundamental biological or clinically related laboratory questions, new treatments, medications, biomarkers, diagnostic techniques, or implementation of research findings in clinical practice. Translational projects may bridge basic and clinical science to improve healthcare delivery or patient outcomes. Cross-disciplinary collaboration between hematology and women’s reproductive health, or another relevant specialty, is required.
