The Foundation for Women & Girls+ with Blood Disorders (FWGBD) administers this special research award to support research on bleeding disorders affecting women and girls and encourage translation into clinical care. The program addresses challenges associated with menstruation, pregnancy, childbirth, and menopause, including the consequences of delayed diagnosis and inappropriate management.
The award supports hypothesis-generating basic, clinical, implementation, and translational research. Projects may investigate fundamental biological or laboratory-based clinical questions, treatments, medications, biomarkers, diagnostic techniques, or implementation of research findings in clinical practice. A central goal is to build the next generation of physician-researchers’ interest and knowledge while fostering collaboration between hematology and women’s reproductive health specialties to improve healthcare delivery and patient outcomes.
