Description
The Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) administers Perkins Reserve through its Office for College, Career, and Technical Education. This federal grant assists school districts in improving career technical education (CTE) programs that align with Massachusetts’ definition of size, scope, and quality under the Strengthening Career and Technical Education for the 21st Century Act, known as Perkins V.
The program prioritizes high-quality CTE for Commonwealth students, particularly closing achievement gaps on Perkins core performance indicators for chronically unemployed or underemployed populations, including special populations. It targets local and regional workforce needs in innovative, high-demand, and/or rural topics or regions. Funding supports services, supplies, equipment, curriculum development, and program improvement and delivery expenses that improve program quality and build capacity to serve students.
