Description
The FY2027 Charter School Program Start-Up Grant (Fund Code 0535) provides federal funding to help new Massachusetts charter schools prepare for and open their doors. Administered by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE), this grant supports planning, staff hiring and professional development, acquisition of materials and equipment, minor non-construction facilities work, transportation start-up, and community engagement activities. The program prioritizes schools that serve student populations reflecting or exceeding the diversity of their sending districts and those demonstrating strong academic outcomes, especially for historically underserved student groups.
