Description
The Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education’s Early College Planning Grant provides resources for K–12 secondary schools and institutions of higher education designing a partnership’s first designated Early College program. Partners plan a pathway that blends high school and college experiences, engages students in college coursework, and prepares them for postsecondary success. Planning must align with the statewide Early College Guiding Principles and Designation Criteria.
The program aims to improve college access and success, particularly for students underrepresented in higher education, and to address equity gaps in postsecondary outcomes. Supported work includes partnership planning, stakeholder engagement, pathway and curriculum development, professional development, and technical assistance. A limited pilot experience for high school seniors may also be supported.
