Description
The Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education’s Office of Early College administers this targeted grant to support Designated Secondary Schools and their partnering institutions of higher education. Funding helps partnerships develop, implement, and sustain Early College initiatives that reimagine the high school experience and prepare students for postsecondary success. Partnerships in their first or second year of implementation receive priority.
The program emphasizes equitable capacity building, a pervasive college-going culture, and stronger access, participation, and success for students underserved in higher education. These include first-generation college students, students of color, English language learners, students with disabilities, and low-income students. Supported work includes college awareness, student materials and transportation, academic and nonacademic supports, career development, and curriculum alignment that prepares more students to participate in Early College.
