Description
This competitive grant, administered by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE), is designed to foster and sustain partnerships (consortia) between educator preparation programs and PK–12 school districts. The goal is to improve the preparation and ongoing professional development of PK–3 educators in evidence-based early literacy instruction, with a strong focus on literacy equity, culturally and linguistically sustaining practices, and positive student outcomes. The program encourages collaboration among diverse stakeholders—districts, higher education institutions, program supervisors, and more—at multiple stages of consortium development, from initial visioning to established implementation.
