This grant provides funding to support workforce development and enhance program quality for all Massachusetts Head Start and Early Head Start programs. The funds are intended to address staff recruitment and retention by supporting salaries, compensation, and benefits. In addition, the grant enables programs to offer high-quality comprehensive services, such as coaching, mental health consultation, and additional teaching staff to lower staff-to-child ratios. Funding may also be used for transportation and interpretation/translation services for children and families, especially those residing in Emergency Assistance shelters. The grant further assists grantees in meeting their required 20% non-Federal matching funds.
