Description
The Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) administers Title III, Part A as a federal formula grant under the Elementary and Secondary Education Act, reauthorized through the Every Student Succeeds Act. It provides supplemental resources to help English learners, including immigrant children and youth, attain English proficiency and meet challenging state academic standards.
The program funds effective language instruction, sustained professional development for teachers and school leaders, and parent, family, and community engagement. It supports educators’ capacity to improve instruction, assessment, and curriculum implementation and prepare students for all-English instructional settings. Applicants should intentionally support at least one DESE strategic objective: whole-student support and healthy learning environments, deeper learning, or a diverse and effective educator workforce.
