Project Safe Neighborhoods is administered by the Mississippi Division of Public Safety Planning’s Office of Justice Programs using funding from the U.S. Department of Justice. Separate Northern District and Southern District solicitations support the Violent Gang and Gun Crime Reduction Program, addressing violent crime, including felonious firearm crimes and criminal gang violence.
The program funds enforcement and prevention, prosecution and removal of chronic offenders contributing to violent crime, and disruption and dismantling of violent gangs driving drug crime and violence. Supported activities include project-related equipment and personnel, gang-related activity, training, prevention, reentry, deterrence, publications, and advertising. Preference is given to applicants operating in PSN target areas or working with targeted at-risk youth or offenders in those areas.
