Description
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement’s Office of Criminal Justice Grants administers the Identity Theft and Fraud (IDTF) program for local law enforcement agencies. It supports investigations of theft and fraud involving personal identification information, rather than broader criminal justice activities. Program funding comes from criminal fines paid following qualifying identity theft convictions.
Eligible uses include investigative overtime for sworn officers, equipment and supplies used in identity theft cases, surveillance equipment, investigative or forensic software, and related training or conference costs. FDLE approves or denies proposed budget items during application review. Awards depend on legislative appropriation; if the appropriation is discontinued, the solicitation and applications received will be rescinded.
