Description
The Tennessee Department of Finance and Administration’s Office of Criminal Justice Programs (OCJP) administers the Violent Crime Intervention Fund (VCIF). Its Zip Code Grant supports municipal and county law enforcement agencies, including drug task forces, serving communities most affected by homicide. The program aims to disrupt or prevent violent crime through proven interventions and resources that supplement those already available to participating agencies.
Supported projects include hiring and training specialized violent crime investigative units, purchasing technology and equipment, improving property and infrastructure, and establishing law enforcement-led partnerships with community organizations. Technology priorities include communications systems, shot detection, cameras, video analysis, Rapid DNA, and digital forensic equipment.
