Description
The Nevada Arts Council’s Nevada Heritage Fellowship honors tradition bearers for an established body of work, rather than a proposed project or designated expense. It recognizes cultural and artistic accomplishments that contribute to Nevada’s traditional arts heritage and aims to increase public awareness and appreciation of traditional arts.
The fellowship is for artists who actively perpetuate and share their communities’ traditions, learned through engagement with those communities and practiced primarily with other community members. Reviewers consider excellence and significance within the tradition, as well as artistic impact or contributions to living cultural heritage. Artists seeking support for a specific project are directed to the Folklife Artist Grant or Project Grant for Artists.
