    Description

The Idaho Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) offers the FY2028 Wastewater Planning Grant to support development of planning documents, also called facility plans, under IDAPA 58.01.22. At a minimum, the planning effort must address problems experienced by the wastewater system. The grant sits within DEQ’s broader federal and state funding programs to protect Idaho’s water resources and help wastewater facilities achieve compliance or provide direct water quality benefits.

DEQ awards grants through a priority-rating process considering public health, water quality, sustainability, and existing system conditions. Planning studies may examine regulatory compliance, watershed restoration and protection, recycled water, septic-to-centralized treatment conversion, lagoon improvements, and sustainable infrastructure approaches. The rating form also addresses nonpoint source planning efforts, including analysis of watershed pollutant loading and restoration alternatives.
