This travel award, established in memory of Dr. Gail E. Butterfield, is designed to support doctoral students in nutrition by assisting with travel expenses to present their research at the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) Annual Meeting. The award honors Dr. Butterfield’s legacy as a founding member of ACSM’s Nutrition Special Interest Group and her distinguished academic and research career. Two awards are given annually—one to a US resident and one to a non-US resident—recognizing outstanding research in the field of nutrition as it relates to exercise, metabolism, and health.
