The Gary L. Hanson International Reporting Fellowship is offered by the RTDNA Foundation, the educational arm of the Radio Television Digital News Association. Established in memory of Gary Hanson, a former RTDNA chair, it honors his commitment to journalism, education, and international storytelling. Hanson’s career included newsroom leadership, teaching, and creating global student-reporting experiences.
The fellowship supports professional broadcast and digital journalists with less than 10 years of experience in attending the International Journalism Festival in Perugia, Italy, or another international journalism event of their choosing. Its purpose is to help recipients explore global journalism firsthand. Recipients are also invited to Washington, D.C., for the Foundation’s First Amendment Awards, professional-development training, and networking with industry leaders.
