Description
The GEAR UP TN program, administered by the Tennessee Higher Education Commission (THEC), is a major statewide initiative designed to boost college and career readiness among low-income students in Tennessee. Funded through a competitive, seven-year grant from the U.S. Department of Education, the program partners with K-12 schools, higher education institutions, state agencies, and community organizations to improve student achievement, graduation rates, postsecondary enrollment, and awareness of college options and financial aid. GEAR UP TN delivers direct services to selected counties, supporting over 9,000 students annually, and provides resources to educators, parents, and students to foster a college-going culture.
