Description
General Operating Support for Artists is a Rhode Island State Council on The Arts (RISCA) program for practicing artists pursuing longer-term goals in their art practices. Rather than funding a specific project, it provides three years of unrestricted support that artists can direct toward their own definitions of success.
Artists might use the funding to make time for art, buy materials, rent space, obtain technology, pay collaborators, conduct research or experimentation, or support marketing and documentation. RISCA selects three artists each year. Reviewers consider how the award could advance an artist’s practice or career, as well as the voice, intention and commitment to craft evident in their work.
