Description
General Operating Support for Organizations (GOSO) is administered by the Rhode Island State Council on the Arts (RISCA). It supports the ongoing operations of arts and culture organizations and culturally specific organizations whose programming meaningfully engages their communities. The program recognizes these organizations’ contributions to community diversity and vitality, Rhode Island’s economy, residents’ enrichment, and quality of life.
Community connection and value are central to the program. RISCA prioritizes organizations that are responsive and accountable to their communities’ cultural needs, particularly those engaging underserved communities. Its goals include distributing support geographically across Rhode Island and among organizations with a broad range of budgets. Peer review considers organizational mission, artistic vibrancy and impact, purposeful participant experiences, and intentional, collaborative community engagement.
