Description
The Gerda Henkel Foundation’s Research Scholarships finance individual scholars’ own working time on independent historical humanities research. Supported fields include archaeology, history, art history, historical Islamic studies, history of law, prehistory and early history, and history of science. Neighbouring disciplines are eligible when the core research question is historically oriented. Travel and material expenses may supplement the personal scholarship.
This option supports the applicant exclusively. Applications involving additional scholarship holders, or requesting only travel and material aid without a personal scholarship, belong under the separate Research Projects programme. Doctoral candidates must use the separate PhD Scholarships programme. The Foundation prioritises academic significance and research quality, supported by precise cost and schedule planning.
