Description
The Gerda Henkel Foundation's General Research Grants: Scholarships program is designed to support individual postdoctoral researchers and scholars with postdoctoral lecture qualifications pursuing original research in the historical humanities. Eligible fields include archaeology, history, art history, historical Islamic studies, history of law, prehistory and early history, and history of science. Projects from related disciplines may be considered if the central research question is historical in nature.
The scholarship provides funding for full-time research projects that are clearly distinct from the applicant’s PhD thesis. There is no requirement for institutional affiliation, and applications are welcomed from researchers of any nationality. Funding is available for periods ranging from one to 24 months, with additional allowances for family, travel, and material costs as needed. Applications must be submitted electronically in either German or English.
