Description
The Gerda Henkel Foundation’s General Research Grants programme offers personal research scholarships for postdoctoral researchers and scholars with a postdoctoral lecture qualification or recognised equivalent. Supported fields are archaeology, history, historical Islamic studies, art history, history of law, prehistory and early history, and history of science. Work in neighbouring disciplines is eligible when the central research question is historically oriented.
This scholarship supports the applicant’s own full-time research exclusively. Travel and material expenses may accompany the personal stipend, including research visits to archives, libraries, museums, and other destinations. Applications supporting additional scholarship holders, or requesting travel and material aid without a personal scholarship, must instead use research project funding. Doctoral candidates are not eligible for this scholarship.
